One huge mistake by most on Kearny Council

There are times I just don’t understand what goes on in the minds of elected officials. Far too many times, I’ve had to take a step back, re-evaluate what I’ve seen and heard from them — and say to myself, “Wow!” Such was the case today when I learned the Kearny Mayor and Town Council [...]

A fire damaged a garage to the rear of a Chestnut Street home, and then spread to a small shed in the rear of a Beech Street home yesterday shortly after 11 a.m. There was minor damage to both structures. Where did all the cats come from?

This was certainly an interesting week. Nothing was more bizarre, though, than the fire at 82 McKinley St. in Nutley early Wednesday morning.

Two off-duty Kearny firefighters were the first on scene of a tragic fire in Edison that claimed the life of a 64-year-old woman over the weekend. The two firefighters had been in the area for a sporting event when they noticed the nearby smoke, according to Fire Inspector Chuck Kerr. The two banged on doors, [...]

Ugly display from KPD’s Gawronski

KEARNY — Sometimes, it’s good for members of the public to give thanks they don’t have to do what we at newspapers have to do.
This past Tuesday was a relatively quiet day for me. I arrived home from work at about 5:30 p.m. after a very slow day at the office. Tuesdays are generally slow, [...]
