The Devils have acquired defenseman Bryce Salvador from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for right wing Cam Janssen. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.
“In Bryce Salvador, we have acquired a veteran NHL defenseman with good size and strength who plays a physical game,” Lamoriello said. “We look forward to the [...]

Johan Santana — The Mets’ newest savior

If you’re a Mets fan like I am, there is no doubt in your mind — Feb. 1, 2008 was one of the greatest days in the history of the franchise. The team finalized a deal with the best pitcher in baseball, Johan Santana. For the next six years, Santana will pitch for the New [...]

A Prudential error

A little more than six weeks into its existence, Newark’s Prudential Center is a colossal failure. Now I understand completely that we’re just six weeks into its life, but new arenas almost always have their best days right at the very beginning. This cannot be said of The Rock. And it’s a downright shame.
It cost [...]

Brodeur gets 500th win in Philly

PHILADELPHIA — The New Jersey Devils’ Martin Brodeur won his 500th NHL game tonight, as the Devils beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 6-2, at the Wachovia Center. Brodeur becomes only the second NHL goaltender in history to make it to the 500-win Club. Patrick Roy, the retired goaltender formerly of the Montreal Canadians and the Colorado [...]

Not even a new arena helps Devils draw fans

Ah, the perks of playing hockey at a new arena. Just a little less than a week ago, the New Jersey Devils played their first-ever game at the Prudential Center in Newark in front of a sellout crowd of 17,625. Last year, the Devils didn’t sell out a single home game during the regular season. [...]

It’s Opening Night for The Devils

Well, it’s Opening Night — finally — for The Devils at The Prudential Center. The Devils host the Ottawa Senators. Gametime is 7 p.m. Later tonight, I’ll be back with photos and videos from the game, and reaction from fans who were at the game, visiting The Rock for the first time.

Tickets remain for Devils’ home opener

Are you a fan of The New Jersey Devils who assumed the first-ever game at The Prudential Center was sold out? Think again. Tickets in many price categories still remain for the Devils’ inaugural game at The Rock. (Looks like not even a new building can get The Devs to sell out a game). For [...]

A new Mecca in Newark

I might be biased because I am a huge fan of The New Jersey Devils.
But if The Prudential Center — or, The Pru or The Rock has it’s been dubbed — isn’t the most beautiful and advanced arena in America, let alone the National Hockey League, I’m still waiting to see it.
Last week, members of [...]

Today was media day at the new Prudential Center in Newark. Here are several photos and a video from the event, which was led by Devils’ owner Jeff Vanderbeek, and attended by at least 100 members of the media. (To view the video, you’ll need Quicktime installed on your computer. If not, you can [...]
